Barnet Carpet Cleaners Modern Slavery Commitment
Barnet Carpet Cleaners is committed to conducting all aspects of its business in an ethical and responsible manner. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. It applies to all employees, workers, contractors, and suppliers engaged by Barnet Carpet Cleaners.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
We have a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, and all forms of exploitation. We do not accept any practice that deprives individuals of their freedom, dignity, or fair reward for their work. We expect the same commitment from everyone we work with, regardless of their location, role, or the size of their organisation.
All business decisions at Barnet Carpet Cleaners must be consistent with this policy. We will not knowingly enter into or maintain relationships with any individual or organisation that is involved in, or complicit with, modern slavery or human trafficking.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Barnet Carpet Cleaners provides professional carpet, upholstery, and related cleaning services. Our supply chains include suppliers of cleaning equipment, chemicals, uniforms, vehicles, and other operational services. While our direct operations are relatively small and local in nature, we recognise that modern slavery risks can exist at any stage of a supply chain, including manufacturing, logistics, and subcontracted services.
We are committed to understanding these risks and taking proportionate steps to reduce and address them. This includes placing ethical standards and human rights at the core of how we select, review, and collaborate with suppliers.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We require our key suppliers and contractors to act in accordance with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws. We expect them to ensure that work is voluntary, that workers are of legal working age, and that employment terms are clear, fair, and transparent.
To support this, we conduct proportionate supplier due diligence. This may include requesting information about labour practices, codes of conduct, and certification relating to ethical sourcing. Where appropriate, we carry out audits or site visits, either directly or through competent third parties, to verify that suppliers meet our standards. If we identify concerns, we will seek corrective action within clear timeframes. Where a supplier fails to address serious issues, we will consider suspending or terminating the relationship.
Training, Awareness, and Reporting Channels
We make information about modern slavery risks and this policy available to relevant staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, and supplier management. Training and guidance focus on recognising warning signs, asking the right questions, and escalating concerns promptly.
Any employee, worker, supplier, or third party is encouraged to report concerns about potential modern slavery, human trafficking, or unethical labour practices connected to our business or supply chains. Reports can be made to management or through established internal reporting routes, and may be made confidentially. We will investigate all credible concerns, take appropriate action, and will not tolerate any form of retaliation against individuals who raise issues in good faith.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Barnet Carpet Cleaners is committed to continuous improvement in identifying and addressing the risk of modern slavery. We regularly review our policies, risk assessments, and supplier oversight to ensure they remain effective, proportionate, and aligned with best practice.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed and updated at least once every twelve months. As part of the annual review, we assess any incidents, audit findings, and supplier feedback, and we adjust our procedures as necessary. Where we identify opportunities to enhance training, strengthen contractual terms, or improve monitoring, we will implement those changes in a timely manner.
This Statement has been approved by the leadership of Barnet Carpet Cleaners, who take ultimate responsibility for ensuring that our zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery is embedded across our operations and supply chains.
